Works and glass from the Gemin Collection.
The Gemin Wing of the Gypsotheca Antonio Canova Museum in Possagno (TV) will host, from June 22, 2025 to January 11, 2026, the exhibition: Carlo Scarpa and the Arts at the Biennale. Works and Glass from the Gemin Collection, curated by Mario Gemin and Orietta Lanzarini.
On this occasion, a significant part of the collection of architect Luciano Gemin, a long-time friend and collaborator of Carlo Scarpa for over a decade, will be presented for the first time. This important connection is reflected in Gemin's choices as a collector, who has gathered over the years essential pieces to tell his own experience alongside the “professor”.
Among the many chapters of this exceptional story, the curators have chosen to reconstruct that which most marks Scarpa's work: his relationship with the arts, developed within the context of the Venice Biennale, with which he collaborated as a designer and architect for almost forty years, from 1934 to 1972.
Through the pathways of the exhibition and the related educational activities, the public has the opportunity to delve into an aspect of Scarpa's research that is fundamental for understanding the personality of this extraordinary master of architecture and the arts, in the hope that it may be seen, in a new light, also his original interpretation of the work of Antonio Canova in the Gypsotheca of Possagno.
