Possagno is the perfect place to truly appreciate the genius of Antonio Canova. In the Gypsotheca, his Birthplace and the Library, you can take a look behind the scenes of his finest works. 

They’re all part of the multi-site Canova Museum in the town at the foot of the Prealps. In the Gypsotheca, you can admire the original plaster models that he used to prepare for his marble works, in an exhibition that adds to the great value of his creations. Next, head to Canova’s birthplace, where you’ll find paintings, engravings, drawings and marble sculptures, as well as some of the artist’s tools and clothes. Round off your journey through the world of Canova with a trip to the Library and the Historical Archives, which contain numerous invaluable books.
