Rather than displaying exhibits for visitors to see, the Battle Museum in Vittorio Veneto takes them on a journey through human history.
It is the only way for people to truly comprehend it all and ensure it never happens again. There are three multi-sensory exhibition routes that take the First World War out of the realm of the imagination and make it all seem brutally real. You’ll be thrown into a trench and surrounded by lights, sounds and smells that give you a first-hand experience of a day in the life of a soldier, complete with fighting, free time and last thoughts from the front. Straight afterwards, you’ll see what life was like under occupation. Drawers full of hidden documents and newspapers will take you a hundred years back in time. Finally, you’ll learn about the last Battle of Vittorio Veneto and its heroes.
